After being evicted earlier in the summer from the yard at thehouse that was sold they arrived back on the street about 2 weeks ago. We don't know where they are living as they can't get back into their old plac. We have seen 6 of them so far. One has antlers, he wasn't part of the original group! These pictures were taken yesterday.
Today it was freezing rain over night and is now snowing and a bitter cold wind, It's -3C. We're supposed to get 15cm snow by tomorrow. It is COLD!!! Of course we had to go out to a doctors appointment but we will not be going out tomorrow
Wonderful! So glad to hear they have returned. Lovely to be able to see them so close
ReplyDeleteGetting very cold in your part of the world. Still hot here
In the past I have been as close as 6 feet taking pictures of them. -10C at the moment but at least the wind has died down
DeleteThey are so beautiful, and here - where all our gardens are enclosed it would be lovely to see thelm. Not so I suppose if they have access to your tender plants - green and ripe for eating.
ReplyDeleteI've seen them jump over 6' fences and hedges. They only snack on my conical cedars. Many years ago I had a beautiful little patch of 2 dozen red tulips and one morning I looked and it looked like someone had taken a pair of sheers to them. All gone!!
DeleteNice to see the deer back, though it worries me that they may get hit by vehicles in an urban setting. Hopefully they have a good food source nearby.
ReplyDeleteWe had snow overnight, and I need to get out to shovel the driveway this morning. Not looking forward to it.
They have been around for years and are not at all skitish. They just stand, usually eating the apples off the tree across from us, and watch the cars go by. Even barking dogs, on leash, don't bother them. We had about 8" of heavy wet snow over night and its been snowing all day. We have great neighbour who did all the shovelling on the front and the driveway, I just had to do the back patio to the garage-that was enough!!
