Isn't he beautiful!! I was standing about 6 feet away from him. Too bad he's lost one of his antlers. He came back to the crab apple tree across the street three times yesterday. Hope he didn't get a stomach ache, or worse, after eating all those apples! Haven't seen him today, maybe he found some shade in this 40C heat.
Over the years we have had several visit our street from young fawns to big bucks with full racks. They have never been a problem, although I have noticed that some people in the neighbourhood have put chicken wire around their berry bushes!
So beautiful! We saw a huge stag as we drove home late one night a couple of years ago. He was magnificent and took my breath away. I felt so privileged to have seen him.
A magnificent animal, such a shame about its lost antler.
ReplyDeleteI have it on good authority (my brother) that it will grow back next year!
DeleteI know some people consider them to be pests but I think he is adorable.

DeleteHow marvelous; I wish our Red and Roe Deer were as friendly.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I could have touched him but I was a bit too chicken. He hasn't been back since.
DeleteOh he's so beautiful! Thanks for popping by my blog!

ReplyDeleteDeer are pretty but....
ReplyDeleteThey are a necessary link, in the Deer Tick life cycle.
And I am terrified of Ticks.
So am happy, to never have seen a deer, around here.
