OMG

Yesterday was the first day that people over 75 could book an appointment for the covid vaccine.  We had been hearing for days that the system had been tested over and over and there should be very few glitches. ROFLMAO

As DH falls into that category I was ready at 8a.m. when it was to be operational.  I had my cell phone, the landline, my laptop and an ipad at the ready.  On the dot of 8a.m. we hit the phones and the computers.  The phones were giving busy signals immediately and the web sight kept crashing.  Refresh, refresh, refresh. I did manage to get to the form that you have to fill out on the website 12 different time and almost at the end it crashed every time and that took forever to get back to that point. Spent from 8a.m until 6:30pm (with a 11/2hr. break to go and get my cortisone shot in my hip) to finally book an appointment on line.  He gets his first shot on Saturday and the second one April 7th.  What a fiasco!  Thank goodness it's done so we didn't have to go through the same crap again today!

  1. My daughter is frantically trying to book jabs for her front line staff and vulnerable clients. She looks a wreck.

    1. I don't envy her if yesterday was anything to go by to book for one person!

  2. So glad you managed to get it booked, sounds like quite the drama. I am so glad we don't have to go through this process, we got a phone call and told when to go.

  3. Glad you were able to get the appointments booked. When the timing comes, we're having first come, first serve appointments...it should be a nightmare. I'm considering camping out overnight to be in line - it will be at least April by then so the weather should be better.

    Take care, stay well!

    1. I'll be in the next phase so hopefully some of the problems will be fixed by then.

  4. I'm glad you've got your appointment booked. What a fiasco though. We have a 10 mile radius here and my aunt and uncle were told to book their jabs at Man City's stadium which is just within that distance. Only thing was they couldn't book double appointments on line so it would have meant them going separately which is ridiculous considering they're nearly 80. I've no idea how they got around it but they managed to sort something out in the end. You'd think there'd be an option for a single appointment or double though. xx

    1. Friends of ours couldn't get through on the first day but they managed the next morning. They also could not book double appointments on line. They ended up with appointments on the same day in a small town 30km north of our city-one in the morning and one in the afternoon. What a pain as they'll have to spend the whole day there. It's not for a couple of weeks, hopefully it's not snowing a blizzard that day.

  5. Just follow the how to arrive instructions. There is no need to line up around the building. A monster queue doesn't get you in any faster.

    1. DH drove by the location today and there was no line up outside, everyone was waiting in their cars. I guess they were finally listening to the instructions!!

  6. We had our jab today but have to wait 12 weeks for the next one. We too had a phone call and were told when to go. we did have to line up around the building for 40 minutes though, so I was glad the weather was dry.

    1. DH had his vaccination yesterday. He went straight into the building and it took about 45 minutes altogether. His second one is April 9.

  7. I am hoping that by the time I can get my shot things have been ironed out considerably. Not counting on it though.

    God bless.
